Come Sing With Us
If you love to sing — or used to, and miss it — Portland DayTime Singers might be exactly what you've been looking for. We're a real chorus with real musical standards, and we work hard to sound good. We're also welcoming, patient, and genuinely glad to have new voices join us.
You don't need prior Barbershop experience. You do need to love music and be willing to learn.
What We're Building
We rehearse to please ourselves and our audiences. That means crisp vowels, matched tone, clean words, and the kind of ringing four-part harmony that gives you chills. We're not a competition chorus — but we take the music seriously, and that's exactly what makes it rewarding.
We bring together singers of varying experience and blend them into a cohesive sound, teaching as we go. The on-ramp is gentle. The standards are real.
What to Expect
We rehearse every Monday, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Westside Journey United Methodist Church, 13420 SW Butner Rd, Beaverton, OR 97005.
Come as a guest any Monday — no appointment needed, just show up. Our director Chris Gabel will do a quick voice placement — you'll sing a few comfortable notes so we know where to put you among our four parts: Tenor, Lead (the melody), Baritone, and Bass. That's it.
We ask members to learn their music and words (we have teaching tracks and rehearsal support), show up consistently, and sing with us at our sing-outs whenever they're able. One rehearsal a week. Real music. Good company. And many of us go to lunch together after every rehearsal.
